*Atrum is strolling by on his way to the villagers settlement and stops for a moment. *

May the winds speed you along the way, the forests protect you, and the waters nourish you.

*Clasps Robert on the shoulder and gives him a broad smile*

Bring em back alive please. And if you happen to see my hand and a halfer there and can SAFELY get it out please do so. I couldn't find it.

*Walks past Dallid and stops for a moment and whispers something into his ear, nods and continues on. *

A guthrie walks the trail from the direction of the House of Chance. Seriously-faced, with a leather eyepatch over his left eye, he is clad in a mix of armors, and casually carries a great wooden maul over his shoulder. He nods both to the group and to Robert, and speaks plainly.

I'm here. Rhul found me and filled me in on what you're looking to do. I don't have any skill in woodscraft, but I can look after myself well enough in a fight, and I'm handy with tools- both the kind that fix things and the kind that open doors. Plus.... the elves owe me for a great deal, namely a new eye and a family, so anything that undermines them is fine by me.

But I'm patient enought to look long term, so you don't have to worry about a loose cannon.

When're we leaving?

Mortimer again offers his wineskin to those arriving, waits for whoever wishes to drink, and then says, "Stick close, be vigilant, always be ready. The lands between here and Haven can be...unforgiving."

Mortimer immediately takes his position at the front of the group, walking at a pace that few believe he can maintain. The gentle wind is a cacophany compared to Mortimer's silent glide across the uneven, snow dusted terrain. Where others slosh, he whispers, his feet barely pressing, as if he uses the soft breeze to carry him along.

The sun through leafless, swaying branches casts writhing, almost dance-like shadows on the ground, surrounding the travelers, dancing around them, even through them. By mid day, where some legs have cramped and others slowed, Mortimer and Zeira and others who drank seem filled with vitality, with an abundance of ebergy.

Stopping to eat, to rest briefly, Mortimer again offers his wineskin, insisting that it will help those who are struggling.

After much too short a break, Mortimer jumps up and continues on his nearly reckless pace across unmarked lands that show little signs of humans ever crossing them, though he does with confidence. Several times he stops the group, smells the air or listens to the ground, twice resulting in a massive shift in directions.

When evening finally falls, there is a sense that more ground has been covered than ever before seemed possible, that the journey, once daunting in its length, may end much earlier than expected.

Not long after the sun slipped below the lands, beneath the quarter moon that dimly illuminates the area, following one final series of sniffs of the cold night air, Mortimer says simply, "Here." He then begins setting up camp.

(OOG: I require a PM only if you do NOT drink from the wineskin)

Robert has been mostly silent throughout the day. You noticed that neither he, nor any of his men drank from the wineskin initially, but during the break they all decided to drink save Daniel. Daniel is a younger man perhaps 18 who’s eyes of an age in them. While Robert did not say much, Daniel by contrast was the opposite. He started the day cheerful enough talking at length about some food he enjoyed recently, but then by midday his mood changed and he would not stop complaining. Even during the break, when Robert encouraged him to drink from the wineskin Daniel flatly refused which ended in the boy, and Robert, having a few words you were not able to hear. The end of the conversation was marked by Robert dropping his head and nodding sadly as he walked away.

Now at the campsite Robert motions to his other two other men, Gravin and Paul who immediately start off into the woods to patrol.

Daniel simply falls to the ground breathing and sighing.

Robert addresses the group

"Stay alert my friends for this is an unforgiving place."

He immediately walks to Mortimer and the two speak in hushed tones.

Zeira walks towards Daniel and sits next to him

"What's the problem Daniel? I drunk some of the brew and I feel fine. It's just couple of herbs mixed with some ale to keep us on our feet so we don't die of exhaustion before we get to Haven. I suggest you have just a little if you are worried, just enough to keep you on your feet."

Virgil walks around the area for a while before finally setling down, he sits rubing his legs and streching to avoid cramping, while watching the others.

Virgil stands and walks over to dallid talking quietly.

After the group stops for the night, Daine stares silently into the woods, as if in contemplation, the soft murmer of the the group behind him. Every so often, a forest noise makes him start and quickly look towards the sound, giving him the look of someone haunted by the past. After a while, he tilts his head sideways sharply each way, cracking his neck, and turns back to the group, approaching Robert and Mortimer.

Sir, I know some of your men are out patrolling, but do you think it'd be wise to also set a watch on the camp? I think we've enough people to have several shifts; not to insult your mens' ability, but I know my people and I had several close calls coming out of Haven last spring, and I'd rather not see a repeat.

Robert turns to Daine,

"Sir your words are prudent, please find who you need and set a watch schedule. I will take first watch."

-----------------------------------------------------------------

Daniel is lieing on the ground huffing and puffing when Zeira approaches. Though gasps he says

"What ....do you.... know about it!"

He then rolls over, starts to stand and walk away.

Zeira catches up to Daniel and walks with him

"I don't know a damn thing about the drink accept that it kept us going today. If you are worried about side effects I'm sure we would have seen some by now and even if there are some Dallid can take care of just about anything. If your always looking for enemies at your back you won't be able to fight the ones right in front of you."

Zeira stops for a second

I don't feel so good...

Zeira falls to the ground

*Assesses Zeira*

While doing so, Dallid speaks to Daniel.

"If we do not place trust in our allies, then we are surely doomed. However, vigilance must also be observed, less the unsavory take advantage of such trust. Your choice to forgo the drink represents our vigilance, and your sacrifice is much appreciated. You have bared your burden with honor, keeping up with the group despite lacking the enhancement the rest of us have accepted. Your dedication and sense of duty are admirable, and you have my thanks.”

Zeira stands up and brushes himself off laughing

Geez...Relax. Were not poisoned. It's just a common travelers drink. I don't want to see you torture yourself trying to keep up. I feel bad just looking at you.

Zeira looks around and realizes nobody thought his joke was funny starts to gather firewood

Lighten up people. There will be plenty of time to be serious when we get to Haven.
