The Political System

Allegiance Points
The political system is designed to be both easy and dynamic. As a character goes up in levels they will gain “Allegiance Points” (See Allegiance Points Chart below), a representation of the character’s political power based on experience (the power of face and name recognition), race (the power of discrimination), and to a certain extent Lifestyle (the power of manners and etiquette, or in the case of the Savage, the lack thereof). These points can then be used to support people, make guilds, houses, and even rise up to be royalty. The way that this is accomplished is through lending your support, i.e. giving your allegiance to either yourself or another. If a character is not royalty or the leader of a guild, they may only support a person to be royalty or a person to lead a guild. If they are the leader of a guild they may support someone to be the leader of a House or to be royalty. If they are the leader of a House they may only support someone to be royalty. Royalty may only support other royalty.

A person’s total allegiance is the amount that they have combined with the amount they are given. When allegiance is given, the character must pledge all of their allegiance points to the same person unless they have a skill that allows them to split their allegiance. To elaborate, when a leader of a guild pledges their allegiance to a leader of a House, they are giving all of the guild’s allegiance to that House. All allegiance points are spent via a private voting system. A character may remove or reallocate their support at the end of each event if they so choose.

(Allegiance POint Chart Here)

An example of using allegiance and working with percentages:
Toalr has 20 allegiance points that he has received from his level and lifestyle. Because he is a second level Bureaucrat, he gets a 25% bonus to these points through the allegiance skill for a total of 25. Lothar the Mighty has 20 allegiance points, which he pledges to his guild Leader Tolar. Tolar also receives 40 points from Nimbly the lesser. With the help of his guild-mates, Tolar has a total of (25+40+20) 85 allegiance points. Tolar wants to support Jerat Kendall, the leader of House Iron Rose. Tolar gains a 25% bonus through his Leadership Skill. Tolar now has [85 + 21 (25% of 85 rounded down)] 106 allegiance points to give to Kendall. Kendall has 40 allegiance points of his own, plus 106 from Tolar and 106 from Balor, leader of the Balor Guild. Kendall is also a 2nd level Bureaucrat so he gains a 25% bonus through his Allegiance skill to his personal total (40 + 10 = 50) and a 25% bonus through his Leadership Skill to his organizational total. So Kendal has (262 + 65 [(25% of 262 rounded down)] 327 allegiance points.
