Re: Blocking packet and missile effects with fists and weapo
It's been a field call for as long as I remember that blocking packets and arrows with weapons or fists causes the effect to surge. This was done in order to keep people away from batting at ranged attacks, which would add a bucketful of safety issues.
I personally would like to see it make a solid rule in the book, for the safety issue alone.

If there is a number attached, a physical parry works unless its a crush attack. If there is NO number, it surges even if physically parried.
Crush (Surging)
This damage counts against your soak if it hits any part of you, including weapons or shields. Attacks that do not have a number attached, such as “Magic Sleep” or “Fear” are considered to be Crush.

This is why I'm looking for GM response. I've seen the field call made multiple times but there is no solid rule against blocking ranged attacks with fists or a weapon.

Every time I've seen a PC actually catch an arrow (or arrow packet), the field call has been 'Yep, you caught it. No damage.' But channels always surge.
