EDIT: and i agree that GM's should not let there own feelings of how things should play out effect the PC's i have had entire events changed within 5 minutes of game on because instead of staying on the island and dealing with the cool plots, they decided to just get on a boat and leave. . .true story, had to run an entire event off the top of my head.
