okay i lied

1st warriors are not they ony ones with combat reflexes

2nd, the way CR are described, as you dodgeing the attacks before they hit, it fits that that would get taken away first.

Combat reflexes are not soak in the normal sence, the number is just a way of representing them, like knockout

someone has 6 CR, they are hit for 3 poison, out of game that person takes it from there combat reflexes, in game there character dodged the blow, so like i said, it fits that it gets taken away from first.

warriors should get a triple advantage, its there job to be warriors, the cant throw magic, cant heal people, cant sleep people, pick locks, they get soak, and slight offensive and defensive capabilitys, i think all the paths are really well balanced

Yeah you can explain it any way you want. For instance, once you know you don't have your armor to protect you you put more emphasis on dodging or letting your wrecked armor deflect blows. Warriors have the most CR and no matter how you explain it CR boils down to soak, it's just a 3rd type of soak that fits in between armor and life as it has aspects of both. CR is there so you don't have to run around in plate to be an effective combat person.

I agree, though i dont think we should try to say Combat Reflexes are broken, not Kandium armor, and change something thats been fine for years instead of thinking "hmmm, maybe its the armor???"

Kandium Armor Fix

It grants the ability to remove the call "vorpal" from 1 attack. This would convert the call to normal damage. All the calls linked to the call still would take effect. It takes 5 minutes of uninterrupted time to repair the armor to be able to use the ability again.

Example
One gets hit by 5 vorpal posion
Use the Kandium armor ability. The call changes to
5 posion

I have decided that the topic of this thread is rather deceiving when I see that it is up to seven pages long...

har har, that rule i like, because anybody can have a character build, only rich people can get items, im biast because i HATE magic items, you can have as many as you want as long as you can pay for them, potions and talismans i hate, but you can only have one effect at a time, were as items you can have many, so no i dont think they should be powerfull.

so if the armor needs to be re worded so its less powerfull bring it on

characters SHOULD be strong, but were getting to the point were it dosnt matter what build you are, it matters what items you have, and i dont personally like that.

Although it sucks Josh, that is the way the world works.. those with the best toys usually win, unless you are smarter.

The way I see the FH build system is that there are a finite number of ways to build a character mechanically.. at some point you are going to have people with pretty much identical builds. Some people dislike thism, whereas for this game I myself like this, as this allows people to build the same character but what really sets them apart is the role-playing.

To me that is the essence of a RPG.. role-playing.. mechanics do have their place, but so does role-playing.. when you have a good mix of both you have a great game.

As for Items, they are another mechanic of the game.. as long as they are balanced with the role-playing they will add to the game.

Can someone owning a lot of Magic and Exotic items unbalance that character.. Yes. Is that character paying through the nose for those items..Yes. Question is, how is he paying for them.. it takes more than one person (usually) to pay for a lot of Magic and Exotic items.. that is one of the balancing factors.

So if someone managed to get enough wealth to upkeep his cool Exotic and Magic items and makes himself Uber.. then kudos to him, but even then he is not unkillable.. One or Two Uber characters will not ruin a game if the rest of the players don't want them to.. but that would be up the rest of the characters in the game and what they think of Mister Uber.

I agree with Phil, with one addendum:

Even the most B.A. character with the bestest toys has to sleep sometime.

There are no immortal characters in this game, and I'm all for it.

it depends on what you mean, vampires are immortal, as are warewolves i belive, but i think we got off track, i had to go back a couple posts to remeber what were constructivly bickering over.

Kandium armor, i would be fine if it could eliminate vorpal forever, as long as you cant from the back, just limit it only to the front and i like it, i just dont like the idea of anything that ruins assassin, that discipline gets worse every day.

either that or please change assassin touch of death back to "sleep" that way it cant be screwed over as much

I agree that items need to be reigned in, they were meant to be minor things less than a talisman would be. That certainly isn't the case.

Assassin, yeah, no comment...

I just want to see Kandium, and truthfully items in general fixed.

I almost forgot what this topic was all about. First of all, I could stand to see less magic items and am not fond of kandium armor.

Second: If I got hit with a 3 vorpal poison knockout, I would assume I am both knocked out and poisoned, since, due to vorpal, bot knockout and poison hit my life points, although no damage was done. However, say I am a Paladin with the ability 'Call of the battle' which, to my understanding allows me to resist sleep or knockout. Does that mean I could simply spend a life point to not be knocked out or poisoned either?

Yes that's always been the case but now if you have an immunity to any part of the call none of it affects you either.

Phil all that is well and good except that the political system has changed so that you DON'T need to do anything but find a mystic property that will deal with you. And there are ways to lessen that cost some. Because you can do it by the rules does not mean it fits into the game, I think Josh proved that rather clearly at WH. Cost as a balancing factor has been proven over and over again in real world markets and LARP economics is not a reliable limiting factor.

Palladin's can resist sleep and knockout?

I totaly agree with you Eric on limiting items via cost does not work. Folks will find a way around the cost issue.

ways around
1. don't pay the upkeep
2. steal from people
3. get extra resources from other games
4. place the political game and have people give you resources

It is very hard to keep track of how many resources are being placed into the games and how many are actualy being pulled out. It is an honor based system, and as soon as a couple people arn't being honorable, it throws the entire system in chaos! (Note, not saying people are doing this, but is an example of how friagle the system can be)

Magic items and crafted items where suppose to rare and only a few people have them. And if the masses who do not have, should be able to rise up and take down the person who has. It sounds like this has changed. Bummer...
