Course if we can't have ooky nasty offensive characters, why is it cool that we can have ooky nasty defensive characters? Seems kinda hypocritical to have it one way but not the other.

Once again the only thing I can say is if it is too powerful restrict it. I mean why SCREW over people who are not attempting to loop hole the rules like you and aaron? (and before you get defensive, the GMS had to creat a rule in order to deal with you two called the rule of 3 if I am not mistaken.) Not all of us have to search for loop holes and play them. If you don't want witch hunter/ man at arms, just say NO witch hunter man at arms.

There once was a man named Eli,
A man who claimed he could not die.
But one thing makes him wail:
That's when there is no ALE!
Thus his tale: with no beer, he will cry.

Actually the rule of three is technically only for Aaron, though how often is it that the loophole hasn't been discussed en masse beforehand? We were contimplating making Vince the spokesman to the npcs to avoid the rule of 3. :D

The reason I'm not a fan of saying no to certain combos is partly due to where do you place this in the book. People don't read the book as is, why would adding a rule make things easier? I'm just not into the restrictions thing. Remembering who can do what in certain types of armor is enough of an annoyance. If we start restricting certain combos, why not just remove the wealth entirely and just limit each discipline individually to other disciplines? Then just have those hps based on which discipline you take as your first?

By removing witch hunter from common, you solve the issue with minor impact. Sure you remove a few extra combos but there's more than enough to make a thousand characters of value that are all completely different.

You could simply put it under the description for the discpline.

Of course, I used to 370+pages of rules, so a extra line or two here and there not that big a deal to me.

There is also the suggestion of changing the powers of the Man or war.

Hey

Post by Nelkie »

Hey, now. The rule of three ws made so I could not create some oky something that the NPC's never intended. And when I do create them, I let the NPC's know and it gets fixed that event. Eric and I try to find the loop holes and help to fix them. Thats what we do. We don't look for the loop holes for power, but to correct them and make the game balanced.
We point out the problem on the Forum so everybody can discuss it and than leave it up the NPC's to decided the finial outcome.
Some times the loop holes have to be tested in game to truely determine how broken they are. A great example was the 4th guild ability to casue fear. I talked to the NPC's for months before the guild of light had the ability and let them know it was broken and asked if was still a viable skill. The NPC's had no problem with until the guild of light was throwing fears every wich way. 1/2 way during the event the fear ability was removed and we had to chose something else. Problem solved.
Eric and I just find the holes in the rules and get them fixed. :D

Just a little note for the people that take care of this stuff, spy is also listed as common and privilidged but is only under common on the chart.

??? Now that really doesn't make any sense, if anything I would think spy would be priviledged since they are normally the ones involved in whatever government there is, especially in a feudal system.

I think the idea is that commoners blend into the background and are forgotten easily. You might remember flaming yellow pantaloons but might forget the biege tunic.
