November event

Post by celegar »

hmmm. ok, guess im first.

good:
more props for warriorness. yay.
getting drinks brought out to me by julie. thx, it gets cold out there.
being a big ol'' tough orc.
getting killed in that ritual house with peace. woot, and we were totally the two people that should have been the ones to get killed in that, risk of being a front line fighter, but also glorious.
not having to be the only one out there guarding the door, thx nordworg.
npc's rping getting wailed on.
i gots horns. :)
good food
random crap.

bad:
GAME MECHANICS SHOULD NOT OVERRULE SITUATIONAL ROLEPLAY. its a role playing game, if the reasoning for not being able to do something in a situation is that you dont have the skill for it then thats just lame, and it becomes a numbers game instead of a role playing game. and this is specificly a situational thing, not all the time, all the time skills are the ones you have to buy.
fast counting, still going on.
npc's attacking over the supposedly 15 foot tall walls.
the path shift durring the chaos mage thing. WAY to complex. a dicipline shift would have been fine, but paths have WAY to much crap in them to do that effectively.

the ugly(aka things that couldnt be helped):
rain AND snow.
general npc/pc miscommunication - this one happens all the time, whatevs.
not enough bard
plots that had to be run out in the rain at night.
that stupid pipe thing in front of npc camp

my personal favorite plot was the first undead army attack. i am such a tough bad ass. generally i also enjoyed just watching the gate and chilling with the gavin and the one dark/wood elf and also randomly fearing charlesk and zeira.

Well another season down, and I must admit that I am LOVING the new Character, so It will be fun to see where the story takes him.

GOOD:
The plots were all fun that I went on. The puzzle plot with the hillside keys in the wall was fun to finally finish, and being able to wrap it up myself left me feeling very accomplished!
The Roleplaying was Good, I enjoyed being able to mingle with a few of the new people, and get to know some of the others a bit better.
The whole Fendrel test thing was fun, and it actually made us start to work with our Polar Opposite, and i think that worked out pretty well, and Thanks Julie for ordering me to have free will, that was nice to not worry about being a "Slave"

Ohh and being a GIANT RABBIT! That was Freaking AWESOME!

BAD:

Wasnt too upset with anything, the weather did have dampers on some things, but it could have been MUCH MUCH worse as it was forcasted to be, so I guess that wasnt so bad.
I did have one big downside and that was being a Empath in the rain, I absoultly HATE throwing my packets in the rain because when you get them back they are a muddy wet mess! I know nothing can be done, but it is still a peeve of mine.

Overall with some of the developments that happened late saturday, it is gonna be a fun season next year! (c:

Yay my turn:

The Good:

1. The Nordworg, you guys crack me up especially Piece.
2. Trusk, between the fears and you guarding the gate and all...hey it's easy to make certain you're doing ok because you just rock.
3. The retreat Saturday during the first undead attack and a plan actually working. My banish boys, you rocked as well as well Truskagain for being a badass at the door.
4. Saturday night when I was feeling better...LOVE doing the elf beat down.
5. When in character, the roleplaying at the House of Chance was fantastic. I talked to a lot more people as Aurora then I have and well you come to the House you get to find out more about people.
6. Kami-2 vorpal knockout is all I have to say. :D Not to mention playing where's Kami Saturday evening....it was like a game of where's waldo...funny.
7. Bill in a dress-it's like Mastercard-Priceless
8. Being hit on by Abaddon....creepy. I was very amused but poor Aurora is like ummm....what?

The bad:

1. Fricking chest cold acting up which kept me out of a few fights Aurora would have been in on.
2. People need to help pick up after themselves.
3, The oog discussions. I know it will happen, but when you are trying to stay in character it can be distracting.
4. When people sees open food please ask before helping yourself to the goodies. It would be much appreciated.

The Ugly: The weather...it was a bitch.

Was clean up still a problem for anyone? It went smashingly at NPC camp, but I wasn't there to see how things were going in the other buildings. I don't want to be the Clean Up Nazi as such, but please give us your ideas if you think of ways to help the process.

It was good to see you all out there braving the elements yet again.

Cheers,
Sam

I had a really good time at this event. We got down very early on friday and just chilled over at the HoC. Set stuff up, played cards and waited for mike to show with the sheets. Once gameone, Abaddon got stuffed into a box with a bunch of other townfolk. It was a very bizzare start.

Abaddon went to sleep in the middle of an attack on the House it's self, and that in and of it's self was very amusing. Saturday was fun before gamebreak. I enjoyed the rabbit plot and the fendral attacks plot. We got to use the catapults for the first time, and that was excellent.

Saturday night the rains came, and I tried to stay back and sit at the House, but a chaos being needed to die. That could have gone better, and there was a little bit of a stop start, but once we got going it was very entertaining. Spinning around made for unique fight.

After that, teliium was stolen, and I ended up haveing to go out in the rain with trusted associates that helped.

I had an excellent time. Allen made a great addition to the House as a dealer for blackjack, and runner of table games.

I greatly enjoyed the 3 way girl fight when abaddon was hit by a pc with a zero. (she was just kidding.) Kami and Aurora of course didn't stand for that.

anyway, I had great time, and am looking forward to the first of next year.

Since this has become the standard Feedback template, I'll be a sheep and...

The Good
1. The awesome role playing!!! It was great this weekend
2. I love puzzles!!...but the mechanical puzzles this weekend were a bitch!!!
3. Great plots, just all over great plots!!
4. Seeing Serith and Rhul as giant bunnies
5. Great food and fun times in the kitchen with Esmerelda
6. Overall, great time

The bad
1. Running into a pole!!! outside NPC camp during the Red Tear battle, when things had gotten really ugly, ya know its kind of dark out there.
2. NPC-PC miscomunication, I know you guys were a little short staffed, so I understand.
3. I'm with trusk, the counting too fast and the machine gunning
4. Wishing I had gotten into this a year ago when CJ first started begging me to join him.

The Ugly
1. The cold and rain.
2. The fact that I fell at work on Thursday so was very sore Friday night (sorry Julie, I didn't mean to scream at you, I know you were only trying to help  , but that goes back to running into a pole)

I do have to say however, the clean up was much better than in the past. Thanks a HUGE bundle to whoever took down the gates at the House of Chance, sorry I didn't get to say thank you yesterday. I know CJ and I can be slow pokes getting out, so thanks again. Thanks to Joe and Aaron for helping load the doors. :D

Clean Up went much smoother than it has before. In the future however, can every one make a concious effort to keep their stuff picked up all weekend (take care of your trash, try not to leave stuff that is not in period laying around, if you wear makeup, make sure you wipe the sink down after you clean it off, etc.)

All right, here goes.

The Good
-The roleplaying, I got way more into the game this time
-Learning that I can actually shoot my bow
-The meal plan is the greatest idea ever, yay for good cooking.
-Actually being able to sleep in a room with heat

The Bad
-Not really bad, but not good either, being turned into a zombie scared me because it was the first time Azra had really been screwed
-Wet spell packets

The Ugly
-The rain got to me toward the end. I think I would have been more game for hunting elves if that last battle to stop the ritual hadn't gotten me so cold

In the end, I had so much fun this event. I loved all the plots. There's always so much going on, I'm never bored. I'm so glad I was out and about more at this event.

Overall I did like the "chaos" over the weekend. That being said, I'm glad I wasn't a target of any of it.

Sadly, I think my biggest concern of the weekend had really nothing to do with the game at all. I kept loseing my cups and bowls. Thankfully I recovered them all.

I HATE disposable plates, bowls and cups all over the place (This was what I saw as a HUGE problem in Ionia) so I will never offer them. If my real dishes go missing, I won't be offering them anymore either.

If possible if you are useing my cups and bowls see that they make it back into the kitchen. I shouldn't be finding them outside or who the heck knows where. I'm not pointing fingers, but if you're eatting outside because you're keeping post outside or are working outside and feel you can't come back in to put a dish away, ask someone who is going back inside to take it in for you when you are done. Or if you're inside please ask on of the HoC staff members to take the empty glass away for you if you're character wouldn't not do it themselves. Trust me, I'm fine with it and I'd assume they'd do it.. or find someone to do it.

Also, several people have been kind enough to either bring food or make food at the HoC. I've been one of them. Usually we will offer everyone food and drink and if we fail to do so and you would like something just be polite enough to ask. Please Please PLEASE!! - don't just take something, it's rude. (I'm not the only one that was a bit cranky about this and sadly I think the biggest offender doesn't read the forums. So, if you can read this, this probably doesn't apply to you.)

Cleaning - as far as the kitchen was concerned durring the event,
I was rather pleased. Dishes are sometimes a pain as I bring only so many of them (so when one dish goes missing it's a big deal) but I was happy that quite often I was asked if I needed help and even dishes were magicly done a few times when I wasn't paying attention (YEY!)

*where's that soapbox emoticon?*

Okay - actual game stuff..

I'm actually tickled that people started forming up a search party to come find me (although I was never missing - In all reality I went elsewhere to get away from all the out of game chatter. Shame on you guys!)

Twirling chaos mage battle of doom - interesting. There were a lot of special calls that wasn't so bad, but changing someones path to another they are quite unfamiliar with was no fun. Not only do you have to think of what all your new skills might be, you also have to try to figure out what the charge times are or if you have to spend a life point to use said skill.. Oh.. and if the warriors that got changed into empaths.. were they able to use the empath skills if they were still wearing their warrior armor? Just too much to think about there. It got a little messy. I'd probably be singing a different tune had I known the new path much better.

Bunnies and Chickens - HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!! (again, I'm glad I wasn't the target of that)

Zombie battle on Saturday - I'm glad that whenever Kami dies, she doesn't die - she just turns into a zombie  (this event and the Brighton event). Actually I tend to like the big battles inside the walls of the fort. This zombie thing and the one after the story telling last event. It just feels like a really cool scene. I'd like to protest against the zombies being able to run though. *shrug*

I can't say the rain bothered me all that much, but the mud puddles are made of pure evil *wrings out her wet socks*

I loved finally getting my hands on the puzzle box. I got it as far as I could (red dot box side by side with the horizontal yellow dot bar). I know two NPCs came in and played with it for some time, but I would of liked to of seen HOW THE HECK YOU SOLVE THAT THING!!!

There may be more to say, but this thing has already gotten waaaay too long.

All in all I had a great time.

I wasn't at the event so could you please give details on the situation?

Wow, another awesome event for Esmerelda this time! I don't even know where to start... I guess at the begining. Getting blown up and sent to the box shortly after game on was interesting. Only made funnier by Eli running outside and announcing, "I blew up Esmerelda!" I laughed my ass off the entire walk up to NPC camp. It was also slightly amusing to me to listen to the discussion of who should be the one to die not because no one wanted to but rather because too many people did!

Getting to have a one on one with Robert was as good as I had imagined it would be. It was also nice to finally start doing something towards reclaiming Haven again. And as much as Esmerelda always hated the behind closed doors conversations she now has understood reluctantly the necessity for them... Although she needs a bigger private room!

Saturday was a day on the run, not what I expected when I showed up at the event. Es was on plots CONSTANTLY which is so not normal for her! But being one of only 2 sages in town will do that to you, I guess. Who was the other sage? Couldn't possibly be Mohdri.... (I love you Adam!) And I almost forgot- Serith as a bunny was the best.

Saturday night was by far the best part. Sneaking out of the inn after dinner for my walk in the rain and then having many more people help me than expected was nice. Especially considering there was not a lot of information forthcoming before we set out on the mission. And then failing to solve the puzzle really sucked, but I think will make for better character development in the long run.

Getting drunk in the HoC and flirting with Ingram was priceless. And the whole interaction with the Strong Man was amazing. Which then led to an awesome heart to heart with Korrigan. And pancakes at 4 a.m. on Saturday night was the best!

As for anything bad, I guess I would echo what Julie and Angie said about helping yourself to food without asking. Food in the tavern kitchen in general is for people who paid for the meal plan. People should ask before helping themselves to things. I acutally didn't mind the weather this event, although I really don't have much of a voice today.

Kudos to the gm staff for a well run event

And Big Kudos to the other players. The quality of roleplaying seemed at a much higher caliber this event. Thanks for making it so awesome!

Fyi the people who took the gates down were Shane and TC (McCool or Pea Pod if you prefer).

I agree with Angie on the food and all in the House of Chance, but it's something we'll be working on for the next event. This also applies to things like weapons and all we bring. If you want to borrow something ASK do not just assume it will be alright.

yah, i thought about that one only after the fight. since we are all pretty much master level, we should prolly have had a game stop if we were going to do that drastic of a change, give warriors and such a change to recalculate their hitpoints and combat reflexes, give the people who dont know all the different paths by heart a chance to be able to use their new path. if ever there was an example of something that game stop was designed for, this was it.

Sorry about changing the paths. I could have done that better. I was not really concerned about the mechanics I just thought it would be fun RP. I could see how it would be upsettting though
