Problem is that this creates the issue of potioning the surgeon with mystic heal way around chip draws. To correct and keep the system intact, you have to make chip draws every 10 life and use other skills to recover that life. Which puts us back at my system. Allowing it once (which was the original idea) is kinda clunky and sets a bad precedent.
Trying to make chips do less life won't work either. You end up back at the current rules issues and fail one of the three points I posted.
I'll try and see if I can come up with a way around it.

if you go with that idea then we would need to go with Eric's idea.
I like the idea of the super surgen, but at the same time since at -9 anything can be used technically they can use mystic heal in conjunction with surgery.

hmm, basically +x life per chip? interesting. It'd basically be a wholely different skill... Maybe make it level 2 for paladin (instead of a life point)?
Edit: Could go something like a fuelable life point skill that lasts for the duration of the process and cap that at like 5 life.

skills that make other skills better r0x0r skills that do the same type of thing in a slightly different way yielding pretty much the same result, bah humbug. 14 pages that seem to boild down to sliding a chip draw threshhold and changing the potion rules for negatives for something thats gonna happen maybe once an event, priceless.
Seems the easiest fix here to me is just to add the phrase can only be performed on any patient once while they are in negatives to skills like mystic heal, after all surgery has that if I'm not mistaken, of course any skill that lets you keep healing someone over and over and over in negs is going to outshine surgery.
