New Dicipline Idea

Sorry your sick.
LOl see that is my issue as well. I just do not care enough for something that I agreee might be broken, but does not happen enough to warrent a rule change that will inevidably get a bunch of players upset that we changed the rules.
It is like say O politics. I think we could have a better political system, but it is not like the current one is so broken we need to toss it out. It is more like what does the player base as a whole want to endure.
Basically, if you want a healing change then you need to find me 20 people who really really want it.

Here is a better idea that will have people not going into negtives and makes 30 magic very scary.
At negative 20 you die. Simple, sraight foward, and darn scary. You can make it -25 and still be very scary. It will help stop people running around combat at 1. get hit by that 30 magic, you die. No chip draws or anyting crazy like that.
It would not matter you could can heal some one from negative 100, they reach a certain negative level, they die.

Could I get feebdack from people on how many have ever gotten past neg 20 and how often it happens?
We have the 1 minute bleed to death rule. That is prettu good.
LOL you know...we could just get rid of the 1 minute clock stopping when you do a skill and force people to work within the clock to help someone.
Make surgery quick. hehe

I am inclined to agree that this may be a decent idea. It makes the concept of reckless combat more character driven than the ideology of, "If I drop, someone will get me back up in a half an hour."
Then again, you want to be careful with this. You don't want people feeling as though they have to have reserve characters every event. Though you do want to put emotions in the forefront of a larp. Fear of dieing should be one of those major fears in such a dangerous area that Haven had been. A equation of recklessness could equal death makes sense. I'd go with the -30.
Edit: It's always seemed kind of ridiculous to me that a person could be repaired from -100. -100 equals body has turned into a spray of fine mist and organs. Sewing that together would be rather strange. Though, resurrection should still be possible somehow. Should have a chance to fix past mistakes, rather than quick fast death because you stepped into the wrong spot for one second.

But lets stand back before we make a rule and say how often does this happen?
How often is a person at neg 30.
This is what I am hearing.
Negs are not scarry enough negas are scarry enough. OH my we have to change it.
Im like OK coollets do neg 3. Oh wait that is too scary. Ok lets do neg 10. Oh wait that is too scary. Lets do neg 20. Oh wait that is too scary. Lets do neg 30.
now no matter what neg amount we set it is all a cake walk all the way to 100. So now we just want to say "When does a character die"
That is a great question!
Then I think. How often do people EVER get past neg 30. I keep eharing the 30 boom when a chatracter is at 1 LP. What a strange and rare situation.
I think the problem is that people see a person in negs and they feel at some point the person should just be dead, but the threshold we want happens so infrequently who cares.
Maybe a better thing to do and it would be simplier was to get rid of the notion of negatives. If you take damage that knocks you into negs then you are in negs. if you happen to be in negs for less than 1 minute then all you need is first aid or a potion.
If you have been in negs for 2 minutes then you need a potion or a surgery.
if you have been in negs for 3 mintues then you need super extrodinary measures.

See that is what I am getting at.
People see neg 30 and thing "That is stupid you should not be able to be healed that far down"
Then I say sure but how often does it happen? If most are within the neg 10 range why create a rule for the exception twice a year.
Now if people do not like how we do things in general then perhaps the time thing would be better.
Perhaps healing doesn't stop the clock.

in my experience first aid is the only skill that has stopped the bleeding out count....in other LARPs. Once stabalised at 0 LP/HP then its a matter of waiting 10 minutes to get back your 1LP/HP or regening or getting healed...HOWEVER...those are also LARPS where once you die your body turns to dust . You can be ressurected in a circle of power with a special but minor 15 minute ritual that forces your spirit to reform your body. That feat will eventualy make your spirit to weak to reform a body ( READ: chip draw) and you are reformed one more time but permenantly dead and lifeless...
I personally think the system FH uses ( once your dead your dead until a very costly process is used) is more realistic. I also like it better.

If it happens alot and it is a problem then we have a couple options.
1) Cap it and say you die at a certain number. This would be a fairly easy change.
2) Change the rules to allow the possibility to come back but make the chance harder and harder i.e. red chip draw. Little more rule changes, but I could see more likeing it.
3) Get rid of the negative life thing all together and do something else. This ofcourse has the most rule changes. i.e once in negs you simply start counting and the longer you sit in negs the harder it is to bring you back.
rule changes would consist of:
1) alchemy potions would either A) heal or B) bring you out of negs.
2) Surgery would be changed to every minute over 2 means another chip draw. ie at 3 minutes, 4 minute, 5 minute
3) First aid brings you to 0 if it has been less than 1 minute
4) Transfusuion ...Oh forget it now I am just getting crazy nuts with the rule changes LOL
