Range master path
alright i have been thinking on how cool it would be if all the range paths were combined into one path
Lvl1: Throw weapons at a call of one
Lvl2: Use Bow can use bow to call 1 vorpal
Lvl3: True Strike as it states in the rules
Lvl4: Use Gun to call 5 Vorpal reload time of 25 seconds
note there are many kinds of "guns" out there i.e. airsoft which use small plastic pellets or rubberband guns but to make a gun it should take 24 hours to craft.

We did talk about combining archery and the grenidier, but in the end decided not to.
No there will be no guns nor things that even look like guns aloud in the game.

Yes, I honestly couldn't see any reason for this discapline...
At best it's counter intuitive that your focused training in one thing gives broad range minimalist understanding... You want lvl 1 understanding in 3 skills buy the 3 skills at 1.
And then, just throw guns in as a lvl 4 like an afterthought... this would be a setting shaking, game shifting, historical breakthrough! I have at times wondered if some kind of rudimentary/archaic powder weapons might be cool for a sage alchemist like Lambic or a swashbuckling craftsman to research and figure out many people don't see them in a swords & sorcery setting. (plus trying to figure out a phys rep that would work... sheesh).
Richard, you really should ask around, and do some research to feasibility, before you toss ideas up here on the forums... Have you even read the rulebook yet?

Hey now folks, take it easy on the boy. He's new, and "fantasy" is a realm that has numerous different settings and implications. It's easy to presume that anything might be possible in a world where magic cataclysms re-write the rules of the world every now and then. If the FF series and certain works by Mr. King are any guideline, than there are indeed forms of fantasy where guns (or some form of non-bow projectiles) are present and appropriate.
Sadly for you, Dereck, this isn't one of them.

One should rather die than be betrayed. There is no deceit in death. It delivers precisely what it has promised. Betrayal, though ... betrayal is the willful slaughter of hope.
RE
We ran a plot at CARPS where the payers came across a machine with an instruction manual and a red button amoung other buttons.
The anchients were more technically inclined than you know, so the suggestion of guns ist actually to far off.

Hey, you know I am a fan of FF and there are lots of examples of such in 'fantasy.' Hell... in one Dnd campaign I run there are elvin gunslingers and steam powered tanks...Donovan Thynedar wrote:Hey now folks, take it easy on the boy. I also think I came off sounding more harsh than I intended. I was just saying that Rich tends to go off half cocked at times, and to me it seems he's trying to create rules for a system he's brand new to and doesn't even have one event's worth of understanding to accompany his enthusiasm.

Would you be referring to the 'laser rifles' incident?GM_Chris wrote:We ran a plot at CARPS where the payers came across a machine with an instruction manual and a red button amoung other buttons.

Re: Range master path
I don't have a problem with the rest of it really, although haven't thought about it. But I gotta toss in that this would have to be packect drive, not pellet gun/airsoft or rubber band or paintball. Those just wouldn't be safe. I still have my doubts about using arrows and real bows.Dereck_Sandoval wrote:note there are many kinds of "guns" out there i.e. airsoft which use small plastic pellets or rubberband guns but to make a gun it should take 24 hours to craft.
Personally in a fantasy setting like FH I don't think gun type of things should be there. I mean archery, throwing stuff...cool, but guns nope.
FF and other games like Word or Warcraft are different and not what I believe Chris and the other GMs had in mind. In short, don't think it should matter if it's tweeked or not, don't think something like that should be in this game.
Nice idea, but seriously not in this type of setting.
