Armour, Chainmaile, and their ilk...

Two notes.
1) Mixing queen's english and american breaks the continuity of the book. It's like mixing spanish and mexican spanish. Sure, you can make it out but it just doesn't look right. (Or for those german speakers, proper written german vs. spoken german)

2) The book (as I understand it) is designed to be a guide for someone who's never played. Having techincal terminology for armor and such just looks wrong to a casual observer. If it were a techincal manual for arms and armament, sure, but for a layman type book, no. It's like taking a intro to how the law works book and throwing full fledged legalesse in it.

to summarize: Showing off one's power of the english language doesn't belong in a player's guide. Keep it simple!

(Heck, I've done this many times before and got nailed every time on edits)

Remember, the book has had five or more writers up to this point. That is why Mike is going through everything and rewriting it for ease of reading and for language continuity. We just thought, and perhaps wrongly, that it was better to get the mechanics out in their mixed english rather than waiting for the final version and depriving the players of commenting on the mechanics. Not to mention, spending 40+ hours a week on mechanics for the last four months has made the actual skill write up a low priority.

Casting a Spell
In order to cast a spell, the character must have the scroll or spell book with the spell written upon it out and available when casting. All spells must be written down and performed as written at the time of casting. For characters who cannot read, this may be role-played in a variety of ways, but the scroll still needs to be present. If an arcane would like to research a new potion, they must first write a spell proposal and give it to a Game Master. The GMs will then discuss the spell and return a decision to the arcane. The length of time it takes to research a new spell depends on the complexity of the spell and the Arcane’s skill level. In order to research a spell, the alchemist must be of a high enough level to be able to cast the spell and they must also have the research skill.



There are several occasions in here where it says potion and refers to an Alchemist.. just wanted to point it out to keep confusion down? unless they are supposed to refer to them.

In rulebook - Waylay Skill page 62 - Does not give a number for the knockout call.

Witchhunter lvl 1 Enchant weapon - page 81 - First words still call for Undead hunter, not witch hunter.

Fear skill for Empath - Page 56 - Is a Life Point skill that states a specific target in not needed when "charging" that skill.

Under Wealth Advancement - page 84 - It calls for "Lodging" and not "Supplies".

Just some things I noticed.. hope they help.

Page 94 Commodities -

A couple of the commodities list "Gems" as a necessary ingredient ot make, yet Gems are not listed anywhere as an available resource?

Rarefied Herbs and spice Commodity - is it supposed to say cloth twice in the ingredient list?

Focusing Materials - is it supposed to be Steel instead of Iron as an ingredient, as Iron is also not listed under resources?

And for the "Master Market place" - can you trade primary or secondary resources to create Mystic resources with that type of market place, if so it does not seem to say it in the description..(Unless I am reading it wrong)?

We appreciate the extra eyes. The goal is to have a very clean, well-edited book. We will be adding art and are trying to make it look as professional as possible so keep it up.

Very true Taki very true... Phil has in fact been the five year old that points out the flaws in our plans for years... but I still wonder if Xavier is gonna try taking his job soon. Will hafta talk to Wes about that.

In the meantime Phil, keep up the goob work!! As long as you're crawling up someone elses ass for a change, I'm all for it!!

I'm confused. For a commidity should one have a spell/alchemy componet instead of gem, or are you saying instead of a gem, use a mystic resource? If gems are to be used, what type of is suppose to be used. shards, rounded, uncut, small cut, ect.... I have a bag of gems and wondering if they can be used for something?

Than what value do the gems in game currently have?

I have been meaning to ask this question, but forgot about it.

If gems are to be used for mystic resources then all gems will be the same or maybe just one of the colors you will find out at tht event or when ever we make up all the tags.
