Level 2: Florentine

Swashbuckler question:

What is the shield size and all for the light category shield? Figured I would ask.

A light shield can take one 5 damage attack and is then destroyed. Light shields are made from hide, wood, or steel. Light shields cannot have an area greater than 350 square inches or a side longer than 18 inches

Thanks Chris.

Figured it should be listed in the description, which is why I asked.

It is listed under the "shields" section which is posted, but you brought up a great point about where things should be worded and thus have started a discussion on that between teh GM's

I didn't mean to bring up extra work.

I was just thinking that from a player perspective it would make things easier to know what they can and cannot do with the skills if it's all listed under the ability.

For instance the size of a light shield for Florentine is all.

Yeah but if cross reference page #'s are given then it shouldn't be that big of a deal. I'd rather have to go to another part of the book than increase the size of the book by stating something over and over again.

Oh and no armor restrictions?

We have 1 rule for shields. We are discussing only putting a size for shields under florintene and then allowing a person to make a large light shield.

I think what he means is that the armor restriction in terms of swashbucklers can only wear light armor in order to be able to use skills like florentine, disarm, and vorpal.

LOL nope

What I mean is under the shield rules you will see that we have only 1 catagory of shields with a size restriciton namely the light shield catagory which is listed above.

We only have 1 rule governing shield size and that is under the florintene skill.

So the suggestive change is under the shields section simply saying there are 3 type of shields light, medium, and heavy. Then under shield safty we keep the max shield size being what Brian suggested. Finally under Florintene we put in the shield size restriction noted above.

Shield size would not have a bearing on shield type. Basically you could have a heavy buckler size shield.
