I don't see a safety issue with foot attacks, nor do I see it as cheese. Getting your foot cut off can be quite lethal. At the very least, it would put you on the ground, which tends to be VERY lethal. Frankly, I'd like to see ALL body hits legal, but see the safety need for off-limits zones.

Forgive me I'm tired, but I'm gonna bull ahead anyway. Keep in mind no offence is taken, or intended, however...

You seem to be missing what I am saying, (Incert "No I'm not" here) so I'll say it with personal examples.

If you were wondering why I was hobbling around Sat. night and Sun. morn at the last event, one of the reasons was that one of the nameless NPCs ( I couldn't have picked him out af a lineup 2 minutes later), when given a free shot at my back, chose to nail me on my support ankle.

Durring the Silverthorn event, Ollum, after telling his oppenets that he had badly sprained his ankle before the weekend, was forced to deal with ankle biting the entire weekend. (to clarify, I don't think for a minute that anyone was trying to hurt Shane)

All of this was/is legal, so no harm no foul.

I am more worried about the person taking the ankle shot getting hurt. Going for the feet with a shorter weapon (90% of the weapons in use) forces the attacker to duck down. I'm sorry, but if I'm swinging The 'mauler when you deside to go for my feet, you WILL end up on the ground. I pray that I will hit you in the shoulder, but...

The same holds true for all of the larger weapons, and to a lesser extent, all the weapons.

I really don't see the point in allowing someone to put themselves in harms way when all that would be needed would be to say " No shots below the shin." <shrug>

If people think that some of the shields make the feet the only viable target, then shields need to be looked at, but I (at best an average combatent) have faced some of the biggest shields in the game and never thought "Gee, the only way I'm gonna hit this guy is to take out his feet". I may not win, but I'm sure I'll get my hits in.

I may be overreacting (hell. I've done it before  ) But is removeing a few inches from the "strike zone" going to really gimp everyone?

Shields are a problem, not ankle biting. I don't know of any ankle biting problems at CARPS, but then we have very strict shield restrictions.

If all I can see is your head or your ankles, then I am going to go for your ankles.

I spose I could ram my body into someone instead, but that would be illegal.

If heads are no longer a viable target and feet are no longer a viable target and huge shields that cover everything but the head and the feet, well...can I bring a bubble? I think I might actually be small enough to make a "legal" shield that covers everything but my head (including back, etc). I'll have to look into that, and I can have a little hole for a spear to poke out of ;-)

I think shield sizes are fine.

Ankle bitting can be agrivating, but it's just the game we play.

I once twisted my knee and scraped it, twisted the other ankle, and that was before the battle where FH blew up and I ran down teh road after people on that. Wayne and Blondie's backs... Taki's knee... Jarod's nuts... Wait, that one is illegal.

If people are hurt or worried they can grab a non-com sash, but making feet illegal targets seems overkill.

I feel that the shield sizes are way off. The reason being because we cannot do what we would normally do in battle vs a shield. For instance, ramming my body into you, grappling your shield, tearing it out of your arms and kicking you in the knee, taking your head with my sword. I think that shield sizes at Final Haven are too large.

Yeah but you can blow them up! For goodness sake that is why the empath exists.

FH is designed for multiple groups of people.

I wouldn't be against setting some rules for size, if nothing else it would help newbies. However, I will also say that I'm not sure that I can afford to make a new one if mine is deemed too big and that would put me a nasty disavantage in a fight, and since I die alot with the shield, ie people don't seem to have a problem getting around mine (or going through it) I don't think its too big.

As for ankle biting I have tripped a couple of times but I also trip over my own feet so I don't see it being a big problem, but I also could live without it.

just my 2 cents

Unacceptable answer. You are telling us to solve a safety issue via in-game means. I think we need good shield sizes setup and we need to make certain people aren't handling their shields in a way that they are only exposing their feet and head.

I was going to wait until Monday but I decided to post the shield rules early. They are in the rules update section
