If we worded press as it is below does anyone see any problems?
Press
There is no physical contact in the game but at times you will need to get someone out of your way. We simulate this by doing a press maneuver. Those whose racial boons, and or disciplines allow, may make one press per person per scene. If a character is granted a press manuever from more than one source (i.e. one from a racial boon and one from a discipline skill) they may perform an additional press per person per scene for each skill or boon that grants them the ability. To deliver a "press", hit any part of the target's body, weapon, or shield with your weapon and yell “Press.” The person you are pressing can counter your press by expending his or her press, if he or she has one. If a person counters then you must continue fighting, but if the person chooses not to counter then they must take two or more steps to the side and let you pass. They cannot jump back in front of you before you pass. Please note you can counter any presses that are called against you as long as you are standing.

Question
What is meant by,
"Please note you can counter any presses that are called against you as long as you are standing."
Do you mean you can only use press while you are in positive life? Or are you saying you must be on your feet to be able to use your press to counter another press?
If you have press, can you only counter one press per scene? AKA if 5 orcs come up to me and I only have 1 press, I can only counter 1 orc, not all 5.

A suggested rewrite:
Physical contact is not allowed in Final Haven, but at times a character may wish to knock an opponent out of the way. This is simulated with the 'Press' ability. 'Press' is initiated by hitting the opponent's body, weapon, or shield with your weapon, expending a Life Point, and calling "Press!" The opponent must then step aside and allow the Presser to pass. The opponent may still strike at the Presser, but may not again block his path for at least 10 seconds. A character with the 'Press' ability may perform one Press per person per scene. If a character is granted the Press ability from more than one source, he or she may perform an additional Press per person per scene for each additional source.
The Press ability may also be used to counter a Press performed against your character. To counter a Press, expend a Life Point and call "Press Counter!" There is no limit to the number of Press's that may be countered this way.
Your character must still be standing to Press or Counter-Press. Even Negative Life may be spent if your character is capable of fighting in the negatives.

Nice work Doug, but I can see in your re-write there is still confusion over this skill.
When you counter a press it follows the same rules as initiating a press in that an orc man at arms can out press a man at arms.
Also, no activation skill may be used in negatives, meaning you cannot press in negatives. There is no skill in game that allows you to fight in negatives.

Yep! These are the clarifications that are necessary. IN that case:

A character with the 'Press' ability may perform one Press OR Counter Press per person per scene. If a character is granted the Press ability from more than one source, he or she may perform an additional Press or Counter Press per person per scene for each additional source.

Press
The way I'm reading it an Orc man at arms could not be pressed out of the way by normal means becasue he would have two press. They could block a door and never be pressed out of the way unless magic was used on another orc man at arms which would grant them 3 press for a scence.
Makes since to me.

Yes nelkie, an orc man at arms cannot be moved out of a doorway, but since the racial and other presses now all cost a life point...he wont stay there forever if faced with several foes...even with stand ground.
