Return from Frostfell: Chapter 3 (Witch Demon Pass)

*Annika looks at Dallid a bit oddly and then her expression softens.*
"Unnecessary conflict? Perhaps it was... but now it is simply a reminder of what once happened. Our people learned from it and have not warred since... not even Zander's attempt to usurp the role of Gaul was a 'North' versus 'South' conflict of old."
"But for us to ignore what happens on these Plains... and for us to not take advantage of a tool to train our youth so that they may better protect our lands from would-be attackers... all without further bloodshed... that, Dallid, is unfathomable."

*Donovan nods once to Lambic, gestures at Shale to wait for a moment, and then speaks in a commanding voice.*
"Attention Phoenix Guard, Order of the Phoenix. Do not engage the spirts under any circumstances. That is all."
*If no formal question is raised, Donovan returns to his conversation with Shale.*

One should rather die than be betrayed. There is no deceit in death. It delivers precisely what it has promised. Betrayal, though ... betrayal is the willful slaughter of hope.

*Vir-Drake sets up on the edge of the camp*
"I will keep watch for some time. When I get tired I will wake someone up to take over. I know that I am not trusted, so who is willing to stay up with me? I might not sleep, just to warn you."
*Vir-Drake waits for an answer*
*After an answer is given*
"I also would like to take part in the battles tonight Annika. Please inform me of how this is done. I wouldn't want to mess it up."

*Donmayo as usually will remain awake most of the night sitting in a relaxed meditative possition while remaining aware and sleep a few hours before dawn at which time he awakens Midnight to watch. He does not join any battle unless he, Midnight, or Annika are attacked or he is told to do so by a person in higher standing in the house.
*Seeing 3 birdmen in the road Corbyn asks:
"Donmayo can we trust these travelers?"
-They are Avyana, of course not"
“But you’re an Avyana”
-Yesss I am, aren't I...

*Annika nods to McEwan's interest and indicates that once one of the Bear Riders is able to locate an encounter, she will have McEwan escorted along. The Bear Riders all disperse in different directions and the evening falls quiet.
*Late into Drake, Ravinal and McEwan's watch, a bloodcurdling scream is heard off in the distance and it resonates around the camp making it impossible to distinguish in which direction it came from. Shortly thereafter, the group can hear a woman shrieking for help... at first softly, then growing louder as if she is running in the direction of the camp. As the Havenites begin stirring, McEwan spots a woman running toward the campfire with something in her arms followed closely by a group of men.*

With an almost ferral howl of rage, McEwan leaps to his feet and charges into the group of persuers. Comming in low and with his axe blurring in great fast arcs he slams, shield first and at full speed, into the leading advisary then spins off into the crowd
" Ya'll be a'havin' ta go through me first, ya curs!"
