Virgil throws himself at Malachi pushing him faster as they run. "not a chance, you have to live."
Virgil looks around and spots Azra. 'well...shoot back!"

"He's right....move, move!" Daine shouts, and ducks from behind the tree to chase Mortimer. He runs throught the forest, unconsiously ducking occasionally as if he expects an arrow to come his way any moment.
Apparent care for his comrades leads him to drop back and take the rearguard, glancing to see if they are followed. If the situation weren't so dire, it would be rather comical, as branches pushed through by the larger party members whip back, only to pass by over his head, unnoticed, by nearly a foot.

Reckless speed over uneven ground breeds a certain familiarity from many of the party's members. Backward glances reveals no onrushing threat, at least at the moment, but that does not seem to slow the flee. Through brush and branches, a structure is seen, promising either sanctuary, a defensible position, or further dangers.
Reaching the door first, Mortimer knocks on the wood loudly, nearly covering the sound of a body falling to the ground. Wheeling quickly, he sees Paul, lying near Robert, blood pouring from his mouth, the arrow still sticking from his chest.
Even while some go to aide the man, the door opens, and a voice says, "What's going on out here?"
Malachi and Azra's head shoots up at the familiar voice, clearly surprised to see Torren standing there...

You barely hear "You will be missed my friend", as Paul's head is craddled in Robert's lap. Robert's face is grim as he turns in the direction from wence you came.
Daniel walks up to Robert, tears start to pour down, but as quickly as they started, they are now gone. Sadness turns to anger as Daniel turns away walking strait toward Mortimer his hand moving toward his sword.
"We should have stayed and faught!"

Dallid reaches Paul within seconds of his fall, hefts him up, and barges through the open door. Inside, he falls upon the stricken man - hands glowing with healing light. “Phanterra yet has need of you, warrior, and resists your advance through the cycle.”
(If bleeding to death, Dallid performs appropriate First Aid or surgery. If dead, Dallid should have been able to accomplish this 15 seconds: Resuscitate).

Malachi looks at Torren, utterly confused
"How...how did you...?"
The sound of steel rasping a scabbard jolts him back into reality. He locks eyes with Torren briefly and moves between Daniel and Mortimer. Malachi's voice is firm and demanding, all pretense of politeness is gone
"Put up your steel. There's been enough foolishness for one day."
His eyes do not move from Daniel when he speaks again
"There are other matters to attend to now, not dwell on what we should or should not have done."
"Mortimer, you got the best look at the elf. Was he wearing a uniform or anything military?"
"Robert, I'm certain Dallid will do everything he can for Paul. What you should worry about is Gravin. When we took cover, I lost track of him."
"Christo, how fare you?"
"And finally, to all of you that don't know, allow me to introduce Torren and his brothers. The hunters that were behind us a day past."

As Dallid works on Paul, the brothers within the cabin quickly bare arms at this intrusion, not understanding what is happening. When no one immediately attacks, one of the men, says, "Torren, who are these people?"
Torren gives a slight shake of his head, eyes focused on the bleeding man. "Is he going to be alright?"
Meanwhile, Mortimer takes a step toward Daniel, though without weapon. "Had we stayed, we'd all be dead, and nothing would have been gained except more people to mourn the loss of friends. Our mission is to figure out what is going on with the elves, not fight a losing battle against them."
At the mention of elves, there is a clear apprehension amongst Torren and his family, and a heavy-set one in the back says in a dark tone, "They've come..."

Daniel stands stiff shaking with rage when Gravin places a hand on his shoulder which visibly affects Daniel. Daniel's anger subsides a little just as Dallid runs past with Paul.
Daniel follows after, and standing very close to Dallid manages to say in a wisper: "Is he going to be alright?"
