The Morning Outside the inn

Mortimer nods at Malachi's suggestion. "We might as well get started."
Whenever all are packed and ready, the group continues on their trek. Through rolling hills and budding trees, beside rivers and ponds, with the bright sun casting shadows upon the ground, they continue at their feverish pace, chasing truth, enlightenment.
The lack of wind and unseasonable warmth makes the day's journey more difficult than usual, even with Mortimer's elixir, and almost widespread relief is felt when mortimer stops suddenly, holding up his hand, demanding that everyone else does the same thing.
He stands completely still, head cocked, and then, in what has now become predicatble, sniffs the air. Without moving, he looks around, at first at the ground and then all around, finding only open spaces. He turns then, a concerned look on his face, and he addresses everyone there is a hushed voice. "Another group traveled these lands recently. The tracks ahead are two, maybe three days old." His words carry a weight that does not seem warranted, but then he explains. "WHoever these travelers were, it seems they started here at this very spot. There is no sign of them before, neither left nor right, no sign of from whence they came, and no sign of any attempt to cover tracks. It is as if they were not here but then were and began walking and walking fast the same route we are currently on."
He again pauses, listening to and sniffing the lands...

*Virgil looks around*
"Damn it, i swear cant the good guys ever catch a break, how come everything thats awsome in this world, like super monsters, are evil, were are our super monsters.'
*he looks around the group as if someone knows*
"not only that but it happens to be , in the vast amount of space in this world, right by us, now im not saying i dont enjoy a good fight, or a good trip through the woods, but this is rediculous"
*now kind of laughing at the end of his rant, he stiffens a bit*
"could something know were here and what were up too?"

If it storms or snows, or the sun smiles on us. The day burning hot, or ice cold of night. Dusty are our faces, but joyful are our minds! - Panzerlied

Something about Virgil's words strike a chord and he looks around again. "He's right," Mortimer whispers as if afraid to be heard. "There's nothing here, nothing out this way at all, nothing but a small cabin, but even that is when the trees regain control up ahead. Why would there be something here to fear?"
The question paints not comfort but dread on the face of Mortimer

"How would a group of people simply appear out of thin air? Dallid, Azra, Zeira, perhaps you three should work together and try to decifer this mystery. I believe the three of you are best suited for this."
"Brey, Christo, and Theon, get together with Daniel, Paul, and Gravin, and put together a watch. Keep an eye out for anything out of the ordinary. If you see anything that strikes you as odd, tell someone."
"Daine, Virgil, I would like the two of you to accompany me later on this evening. If Torren and his brothers are still within a reasonable walk, I'm going to let them know to take care."
He turns to Robert and Mortimer. When he speaks there is no hint of hostility, merely questioning
"Your speech and actions say you may know a little more about this. Perhaps a myth or legend of this area? An old wives tale? Anything may help us figure this out."
He looks to Mortimer
"Can you tell us how many there were in this group that appeared out of nowhere?"

Zeira looks around the area with a quick glance
"I think this is just the paranoia setting in. Everybody is just getting anxious because of the task ahead of us and our brains are making things up to keep us from moving forward. I don't have that worried feeling, I have that 'Let's go' feeling. The only weird thing is the tracks that appear out of thin air. If we want to figure out the answer to that we need to hurry up and follow them."

Mortimer looks at the tracks again and says, "There were enough to make it difficult to tell an exact number, at least from here. Somewhere between ten and fifteen would be my best guess. I think Zeira might be correct. Our nerves are getting the best of us. Let us travel a little ways while it's still light. If the tracks get fresher, we'll move cautiously. If need be, we'll circle back and warn those behind us...Agreed?"
*Azra nods determinedly, the look of worry that filled her face now gone as she listens to Zeira and Mortimer's reasoning.*
Is it possible for a temporary portal? I mean, the one we use to get to Avanguard is always there, but it is possible one could come and go as the user wills?
*She kneels and looks closely at the tracks, where they started, looking for some other possibility for their sudden appearance*
I'm sure my tracking skills aren't as acute as Mortimer's. *She says with a grin, then looks to Dallid* What do you think?

For the most part, Daine has been quiet for some time. He took part in conversations, but rarely took the lead, almost as if he found relief in simply being one of the group, and not their leader, as he was when he and his fellow villagers escepaed from Haven a year ago. But the recent mentions of danger, and a mysterious cabin, is causing pause.
"Yeah, maybe those hunters know something about the region they could fill us in on." he agrees with Malachi and Ziera.
"As for this mysterious cabin, I'm not sure I like the sounds of it. We find tracks of a group fleeing from something, and then this?
I've seen that look from others. You might not wish to talk about it, but what's wrong with the cabin, Mortimer? If it affects our goals, we HAVE to know. WHAT is it that we could stumble into the attention of?
