The Morning Outside the inn

Daniel has a difficult time walking away as it is obvious his muscles are starting to cramp up. He starts to walk toward the edge of the camp muttering something about "...I don't need a crutch..." before slumping down next to a tree and covering himself up with a cloak.

*Azra, who had drank from the wineskin saw Zeira fall, and her face went white. She took a second glance at Mortimer, then back at Zeira, walking up to him slowly*
...Zeira?
*Seeing him stand, relief flooded her face, quickly turning to something short of anger. She gently punched him on the shoulder*
Quit being a troll!
*She goes and sits at the base of a tree, and hearing Daine's suggestion, she glanced at him*
I'll gladly take first watch.

Azra Celevares
*Daine acknowledges Robert with a nod, and looks to Azra*
"Yeah, why don't you take first watch, so that way you can get some sleep when you're done. If Malachi's taking second, I'll take the graveyard. It's not like I'm going to be able to sleep much tonight anyway. A good trick to remember, though... keep your back to the fire, you won't lose your night eyes that way.
The rest of you should get all the sleep you can get."
*he shudders, but it's not just from the cold*
"Being back here like this feels like the damn escape from Haven all over again......."

Virgil sits in a tree trying to stay awake, he fails and passes out.

After Robert and Mortimer finish their talk, Robert approaches Dallid and Zeira.
Do not be too hard on him for his tale, like many of ours, is filled with sorrow.
He was a farmer, and from what I understand not a very good one. His father made the decision to get his family, and several others, out before the elves attacked. Daniel decided that he would stay because he did want to leave all of his family possessions behind. When his father realized he was missing he ran came back for him just as the elves began their assult.
I do not have all of the details but I do know his father took an arrow in the back as he was trying to reach Daniel.
Robert trails off for a moment and speaks more softly
"He watched his father die, watched the light leave his eyes"
"Daniel tells me that he tried to fight back, but the elves just walked over and knocked him to the ground. They began tying him up, put a collar around his neck, and was about to brand him when a bunch of creatures ran out from the woods and began attacking the elves. I believe they were Tsunitar's based on his description."
"In the commotion Daniel ran away and it was Paul who found him."
"Daniel feels he was not strong enough to help, he pushes himself too hard....."
Robert trails off shaking his head in sadness.

"I understand. I think that sometimes we think we have it so hard and forget that there are many others out there that have lost just as much, if not more. If Daniel want's to make the trip unaided that's fine as long as he is still able to keep a decent pace. I wish I had his determination but I don't. I just hope his determination doesn't turn into obsession when. I've seen that look of fire in his eyes before in other people. It's the the look of vengeance, and when we get to Haven I hope it doesn't burn him up inside and make him do something foolish. I hope that's not the case because Daniel seems like a smart man with a good head on his shoulders but it would be tragic to see vengeance take him down the path to ruin."
Zeira finishes gathering wood and sits by the fire
"When are Gravin and Paul getting back? It's been a while. If their not back within a couple of minutes we should send somebody to check on them. Azra and Dallid if the time comes will you two look for them please. Your the least likely to get lost out in these woods."

Dallid nods. “He bears the guilt of a survivor. His self-induced suffering is his penance. It grants him a focus and sense of progress in a personal quest against the horror he experienced. A healthy process, if not carried too far. He should be watched, to be sure, but attempts to directly relieve his pain would be counterproductive. Encouragement and spartan praise will help speed the scars to completion.”
He nods to Zeira as well. "Indeed, we must hope the desire for a full life is still within him - that he does not seek to throw it away for a brief chance at vengeance."
"I will scout for Gravin and Paul if they do not return soon."

After Zeira passes out and regains consciousness, Mortimer laughs, his belly shaking. After securing his belongings to a tree and fixing his area by the fire that he was about to start, he listens to the group discuss watches, nodding that it's a probably a good idea, mumbling about never being too careful.
When Virgil passes out, he shakes his head sadly and does so again when he eyes the pain on Daniel's face.
"We'll probably have to go slower tomorrow if they continue to be stubborn. Don't want anyone to be killed before we get there." He pauses again, thinking about what he says, and then laughed. "Don't want anyone to be killed when we get there either."
He shakes his head again, quickly starts a fire, and sits, peering at the dancing flames.

Zeira sits down next to Mortimer
"Yeah well if they want to stay on this trip they better keep up. I don't have a problem with them as long as they stay with the pace. There are elven patrols out here I'm betting and we probably avoided two yesterday thanks to you. If we get slowed down and get caught by a patrol this whole trip will be for naught. Hopefully they will come to their senses by morning."

Theon looks at Zeira, smiles, and shakes his head.
"I'll take second with Malichi."
He walks over to Brey and Christo. Pokes them both in the stomach and giggles.
"Keep alert on you watch. You are the only family I have left and I plan to have many more adventures with you both."
