Economy
•Removal of Personal Income, All Item Upkeep, and all Basic Survival Upkeep for both chapters. Discipline skills will continue to give income where applicable. The rest of the economic system will be essentially unchanged though better clarified.

I would just like to thank all my friends and family, and all those that have supported me on this long struggle, this ones for all of you <3

Just for note Ark, not everyone is happy about the removal of upkeep. I am sure the majority do like the idea, but it is not a universal agreement.
So you may want to double check what the award says.

I think the award states:
The award plaque wrote:"Congratulations for achieving your one thousandth post!"
I think the acceptance speech works for this as well.

oh holy crap that was my 1k post, whoot.
also I obviously know I had little to nothing to do with the removal of upkeep, im just being silly. I would however like to say that I did actually LIKE the survival system (not upkeeping weapons and armor, but requiring resources to survive) and felt that it combined with an effect like the new level 1 alchemist ability built into the system could have really been the basis for an awesome barter / survival system.
however the main source of resources within FH's implemented system became the investment system. and that was a very un fun system and became the focus of survival in FH. where as I personally wanted to see a more mad max / fallout style system focused more on the actual resources and survival, and a bunch of tiny ways to deal with getting a few resources to everyone in game. instead of one giant math project that dumped hundreds of resources into your lap between events.
plus as much as I love coin, it did kind of pave the way for the downfall of resource bartering.

In the majority I do agree with you Ark. One of the things that drew me to FH in the beginning was the survival aspect of the system. Coin was a necessary evolution of evil.. (hehe).

While removing upkeep eliminates a certain stress point from playing, remember also that several people will have to have their disciplines HUGELY changed by this new rule, as they only provide modifiers, not actual gold. Hard to % modify nothing.
Also the fun and adventure of several people spending huge amounts of gold at the end of last year's final event on holdings, paying regional advisors for information, and the making of materials to upgrade those holdings for use at the first event of this year, in specific expectation of a ton of upkeep that will suddenly no longer happen.
If there was an inkling of this change back then, a certain level of "heads up" would have been loved before all that work was made.

disciplines are still being worked on and I have no doubt that economy related disciplines and skills will obviously be updated to reflect the new changes in the rules.
also if I recall correctly the territory / holding / trade routes are all actually remaining in game, albeit at updated values to once again reflect the new changes. I have no doubt that staff will work to make sure the transition works out for everyone. but if you are particularly worried or upset about something then I would totally recommend PM'ing Phil, Mike, or any of the other staff and talk to them about it.
but also please understand the rules are not finished, and we have only seen a small portion of them, and asking a million questions and raising concerns on something we have yet to see all of can slow down the process greatly, its hard to post stuff when you have to be defensive and justify every small thing you say before you have even posted everything.
classic case of lets just give it time and see how everything unfolds
if it sucks horribly, I have pitchforks and torches to hand out

All of the holdings and trade routes and all of the other economic system things will remain in game, hopefully with more clarity of what you can do and hopefully with a more in game presence moving forward (instead of a side game which it feels like now).
Disciplines that gave percentages to things will change, obviously. Disciplines that increased personal income will change to a straight income amount each event (thereby putting personal income back in for those who want to invest the points in it).
Hopefully things will be much clearer by the end of this next week, but definitely keep asking questions and I will answer them the best I can as quickly I can.
