Trip to Frostfell

by Annika
*A human woman walks into the Inn dressed very plainly and with a very weary look on her face. To the few in town with whom this young lady has interacted with, she has identified herself as Annika. She walks up to those within the Inn, clears her throat and in an extremely polite and courtly way asks:*
"Excuse me, Good Sirs and Ladies... have any of you seen the Good Sir known as Donovan of recent? I've been staying within his guildhall the past few days (before I make my trek back home) and I'd like to speak with him before I leave. Do you know where I might find him this morn?"
*The woman waits silently with a regal posture she apparently has not been able to or has chosen not to drop -- even considering the informal surroundings. As she quietly waits for an answer from the Inn's occupants she surveys each kindly and with a sort of intrigue.*

*Donovan strides through the front door of the inn, looking as if he has just finished a long morning of drill. There are several wooden swords under one of his arms, and he mutters something about villagers as he pours some juice from one of Atrum's casks.*

Pardon me Sir Donovan but it seems our guest Annika would like a few words with you. Let me take those from you.
*Gathers the wooden practice swords and starts to bundle them up*
*Smirking slightly* A productive practice I take it?

*Annika looks from Claude to Donovan and back to Claude. She regards Claude fondly and politely nods a thanks to him for his assistance. Annika then turns her attention to Donovan and when he appears ready for him to approach, she does so.*
"Good Sir, Donovan. I wanted to personally thank you before I left to return home. I fear that I've already stayed later than I should have and as I have been away from Frostfell for nigh half a year it is most certainly time for me to return to my people, my family and my betrothed..."
"Thank you most kindly for your hospitality and for your assurance that we will soon be able to hope once again. I will be making arrangements for accommodations for your men, as well as a few others, whose ears I have been able to bend to our plight along my way."
"I have written detailed instructions on what I believe will be the safest trip to our modest lands. Remember the Favor that I have given to you, for it will be your safest passage beyond my guards; I will also inform them of your arrival. One word of caution: Should you see a large animal that looks bear-like, hold your ground and look for a Rider first before any action -- often these 'bears' are bound to a Rider and vice versa."
"I also have a copy of these 'prophecies' that you and Good Sir Lao presented. I shall check the few tomes we have remaining since the Cataclysm and speak with the Elder Sages to see if I am able to discover anything."
"Your best course of action would be to finish harvesting your last crops before the frost sets in over the next week and then make your way north. The trip will likely take the entire waxing and waning of one moon and we are scheduled to be married in the twelfth moon."
*Annika regards Donovan a moment to see if he has absorbed all of her instructions and advice, then politely asks:*
"Do you have any need or questions before I leave?"

*Donovan hands the wooden swords off to Claude when he offers to take them and gives a slight smile at his mention of a "productive practice". When Annika approaches he gives a polite bow and listens intently to what she has to say.*
"Lady Annika, I am pleased that you have found some comfort within our lands, and I look forward to the day when you may see the people of your home unified in peace. That day is coming soon, and the people of Haven and Frostfell are certain to be invaluable to each other in the future."
"I believe that I know all that is necessary to make the journey to Frostfell, and we will depart after the harvest as you requested. I will warn our people about the bears and their riders, and with luck we will all soon celebrate your betrothed's coronation."
*Donovan regards Ug warmly after he speaks.*
"Believe me my friend, if there was one person I would bring with me on this trek, you might well be my first choice. Sadly, that is exactly why you must remain: not only because of the people of Frostfell, but because you are irreplacable to the Haven. The Orcs have spoken of bringing in several of their brethren from the hills to aid in the defense of the town, and I trust that they will see to the safety of the villagers. With you, the Tusks, Nuk, Shale, and whomever else chooses to remain behind, I am certain that the Haven will be in good hands."
"Moreover, there is an entire nation that could be either plummeted into strife or brought into peace by the coronation of Annika's betrothed. We may be the only ones who can insure that the people of Frostfell are spared the ravages of war, and that is a task I cannot turn away from. A strong ally to the north would be a welcome change from the random hostilities we have endured as late, and our journey may be a kindness that is repaid many times over. The cause of the Light knows no borders, my friend, but I am not saying anything you do not already know."
*Speaking to Claude in a slightly louder tone*
"Sir Claude, inform the men that we will depart after the harvest. Tell them to bring cold-weather gear and rations for two moons. Also, find your friend Icarius and have him announce our intentions to the town. I'd like as many able bodies as we can get on this trek, and be sure to know that the compensation for the journey will be more substancial than just the feeling of a worthy cause being served."

*Ug sighs deeply and leaves the Inn heading toward the Guild of Light Hall.*

*Claude stiffens slightly at the change of tone in Donovans voice.*
Consider it done Sir, I shall make sure the men know we have a long trip ahead of us and are properly prepared. I have not seen Incarius today but I shall make sure he gets word of our departure. I understand Arthos is trading with the townsfolk today, perhaps we can hire a few shieldmen to travel with us...
There is one matter I wish to speak to you about concerning this journey but it can wait til another time. By your leave Sir.
*Claude salutes Donovan in the manner of the Phoenix Knights, turns and bows to Lady Annika, then promptly heads out the door.*

*Kels walks into the in nods to Claude as they pass*
"Good to see you friend."
*looks at Donovan. Gives a bow *
"How goes it Sir Donovan...ah and the lady as well?"
"When did Claude arive in Haven. When i was at the fishing village?"

*Annika looks at Ug and then turns to Donovan to see how he addresses the question. She nods as he speaks and in a rare instance, smiles as Donovan says 'We may be the only ones who can insure that the people of Frostfell are spared the ravages of war, and that is a task I cannot turn away from.'*
*Once Donovan is finished speaking, Ug has left the Inn and Kels has made his entrance (to which she did nod a polite and formal greetings), Annika replies:*
"My thanks, Good Sir Donovan. I look forward to hosting you and your men and only hope that I can provide the same hospitality that you have shown me. I must take my leave now... as it is, I am only to arrive a week ahead of you and I have much to prepare. For now, fare thee well and safe travels..."
*Annika bows deeply and offers her hand to be kissed by Donovan*

*Kidwynn follows in after Kels.*
'Morning luvs. Good to see everyone is alright.
*Looks at Donovan and grins.*
Thanks for the few days to myself. Is Lord Corbyn about and do you need the two of us at all? *Gestering over in Kels's direction.*

*Arthos comes up to Donovan after he gets done talking*
Dononvan, I only heard glimpes of whats going on. My I suggest if a large number of us need to travel that we use the gate ways. Have a small group make the trip and take Ka along with the first group so he can set up a recieving circle. Than we have another mage set up a sending circle and send people through so the majority of us are rested and better to help. This would alow more of us to stay in town and work on this towns defense and get some other problems solved done.

*Donovan nods to Claude when he takes his leave.*
"Dismissed, and thank you."
*Returns the salute and turns to Kels.*
"Ah, Kels! It's good to see you! Yes, Claude did indeed arrive when you were in the fishing village. He's already been hard at work here in Haven, and I do believe he may be crucial to bringing us even further together as a people."
*When Annika speaks, Donovan regards her warmly, returns her bow, and kisses her hand when offered.*
"May the Light see you safely home, milady. I will join you soon enough, and we will toast to the prosperity of both our lands."
*Donovan nods to Arthos when he speaks.*
"While our usual method would include such magics, I fear the people of Frostfell have certain sensibilities that would preclude such methods. We will discuss some other options when the time comes to depart. I have no intention on leaving the Haven without protection."

*Malphus finds Donavan*
Ah, there you are, my commander.
*Bows*
I regret to inform you that I will not be able to make the long journey to Frostfell. I have found a break in the coding of the Prophecy. I feel that if I return to the land of my home to beg upon the mercy of the Keeper of teh Tomes at Rhys, I would be allowed to use their resources. Know that I shall return, but I regretfully cannot accompany you.
*Malphus casts his gaze to the ground*
I hope you understand.
