Death by starvation/poverty

Is there a game mechanic somewhere that says you die if your starving for a certain amount of time? I remember reading something like that somewhere but I don't remember where I read it.

Not that I know of. Honestly if you do not care about the penalty for starving there is no reason to just stay starving and thus independant.
