I have heard somethings about the coin system and upkeep that I have some questions about.
1. I have heard people can trade in resources for coin. T/F
2. People can upkeep their characters with coin. T/F
3. If both of these are true then doesn't that screw over utilize resource for sages? Because if someone has 6 food and trades it in for coin then turns that in for upkeep, doesn't that make utilize resource obsolete?

Yes you can trade in resources for coin or vice versa, depanding on whihc resources are available at the bank.
Yes you can up keep with coin. And no, this doesn't take away the usefulness of utilize resource because sages can upkeep at a lower cost than normal players. Normally the upkeep cost in coin is the value of whatever the resources needed to upkeep are going at. Sages just need to pay the coin value of 6 times the cheapest resource that is out there.

1) t
2) t (at least that's what I've seen happen)
3) nope each different resource is worth different coinage, so you can get or buy the cheapest resource out there and use that. Just because you can upkeep with money, doesn't mean you have to. This also lets the sage save on gas.. er.. money.

The "bank" is run by the Caldonians (NPC camp) they're who set the prices for the resources for the events and determine the availability of the resources for the event. (Although a lot of that is based on what the territories have been producing and what the town has been selling to the bank) Other than that, there's not much more to it.
