Addictions to Online Forums

So...over the weekend I started reading William Gibson's book Pattern Recognition. The lead character in which describes her regular viewing of an online forum and thinking about the subject of that forum, very specific video clips, as something that is not a "hobby" but an "obsession." Pretty much all of her free time is taken up checking the forums. And she reads it enough to recognize patterens in how responses are goning to come. She does also check her email, which is usually from people in the forum.

The thing is she doesn't check it nearly as often as I check this one  .

Two other fun facts are that she (the main character) talks about meeting or talking to people that you had gotten to online for the first time in person and how strange that can be, I hasn't been that long since I experienced this with the wonderful people from this forum. Oh yeah the forum describes itself as a Fetish. I don't completely understand this, but I'm not done with the book yet.

PS: Can you tell I'm at work with nothing to do? And no spoilers please.
