"Aye that would be a good point and go to follow as to why he didnt seek us out. I believe my coin would be laid on those that sent him on the mission someone he didnt suspect to harm him"
" Not sure if were going to discover anything more, out here. We may have to wait for them to strike again"
Turning to yalka " I would suggest ye have the villagers all travel in pairs minimum until we can find this assailent and question everyone who would be walking alone"
"Its the brutality that worries me and why the eyes. Maybe this is a message to someone else, Perchance someone in the villag, town or in haven knows something there not saying"

Yalka nods in agreement with all who spoke before him. "A secret mission, yes, quite possible. Or perhaps he saw something he wasn't supposed to and didn't know who he could trust, was simply trying to flee. Most likely he going to the fishing village for help or sanctuary and was killed there and dragged here. The question is why? WHy go to all that trouble to land him at this spot? Or is it simply to draw our attention away from the killer?"
Yalka gets that far off look of someone thinking of something and then shakes his head. Then to Incarius, "I will pass on your message as it aligns with my needs. I need any and all witnesses alive. In the mean time, let us get Lan back to the village."
Yalka bends over and grabs Lan by the arm and slings him over his shoulder and from the back of Lan's pants falls a sheet of parchment slowly to the ground where it rests letter side up for all to examine. For those who can read, the letters are plain. For those who can't, Yalka mumbles the words on the paper, "I SEE YOU..."

*Kidwynn moves quickly to view the sheet of paper to see if anything else is written upon it. A firery determination is seen in her eyes if she has had enough of whomever it is games and that if their blades cross, she plans on dealing with the person.*
I wouldn't be so quick to rule out Pentag. He may be good with a blade, but a blunt object like a plank, or club, or anything else can do that type of damage.
The way in which the tracks were covered however, leads me to the conclusion that if it's him, he may have others working for him who can hide him or it could be a few other odd people we have come across in our travels.
*Looks as Yakka.*
May I look at the document a bit more closely.

A psychological attack. Now that conforms with Pentaguishine's tactics.

That is my first theory, but I'm not ruling out a few more either. It's a good psychological tactic just to let us know he is about and can strike down anyone at any given time.
...just don't wanna rule out a few more people either.

Your right, both of ye. I hope this is pentag ....I'd really hate hate to have two murderers like him on the prowl. At least from what ive heard hes not one we wish to have about"
Looking to yalka " perhaps we should cover the body so as not to frighten the young and of course I'll be happy to lend a hand. Furthermore Ill make sure the town and Haven are warned and suggestions of ours are carried out. If I find anyone alone Ill make sure your there for the questioning."
"Kidwyn lass please bring the parchment but good idea check it over for anything else, one never knows"
All the while Incarius is looking about to see if he can spot anything in the area amiss or out of place or watching them.

Other than a slight wind that rustles through the leaves of the nearby trees, everything is calm and nothing seems amiss. Yalka listens to Incarius and agrees, but then looks around. "Do we have something to cover the body with? I'm not entirely convinced that a little fear amongst the peasants is a bad thing. I would want them to be on their guards, but perhaps some of them could not stand the grisly sight. I would hate to cause a panic. The rage that is evident in this scene makes me hope this was some sort of vendetta against this man, some enemy yet hidden from our eyes. The alternative that more of these bodies may arise..." His voice trails off.
Yalka covers the body if something is available and again heaves it over his shoulder, ready to return to town...

*Wonders back to the group and looks at Incarius and Yalka.* Gotta tree to show you. From what I can tell it was cut down by someone enraged and using an axe or two.
Unfortunately *Kidwynn looks annoyed when she says this* I can't find any tracks or any signs the guy was drug here at all and it's pissin' me off to be frank about it.

*Dallid offers his cloak to cover the body*
Interesting. The tree was felled with axes, while Lan perished from blunt assault. Unlikely, then, that these two instances were performed by the same entity. However, both seem motivated by violent rage.
We recently encountered invasive entities that motivate terror in their victims - terror that frequently resulted in violent actions.
Perhaps those who attacked Lan, the Gavin, and the tree were similarly afflicted. Perhaps even Lan - prompting him to flee Haven in mindless terror.
The entities are known to jump from victim to victim. Perhaps several such entities can reside in a single person. Thus the Gavin may have brought them to Lan, and Lan to others.
But then who wrote the note? When and why? Also, the concealment of tracks is a focused action.

Yalka follows Kidwynn to the tree and examines it carefully. Indeed, it looked as if someone had taken their rage out on it and Yalka nods at Dallid's assessment. "Hmm, an interesting theory indeed. Perhaps it is as you say or something similar. Perhaps the act of rage serves as a catharsis, allows him to regain his focus, but this type of rage suggests we won't be seeing the last of these beatings...Come, let us return to the village with this body, unless there was more you wished to do...."

Guess we should head back, although I'm still more then a little curious about this Malcom fellow. If T'ru and the others decide to move to the new location of the lake I will probably offer my assistance in the move and assist in building them a few things. Hopefully Arthos will fill me in on that or I'll head back here myself.
We should probably fill people in on what all we discovered out here in terms of the worm, Lan, and all.

And I would advise against hunting the worms to extinction, at least until they are better understood. Wiping them out may well upset the natural balance of the area. Who knows what consequences their loss may bring?

Did I say ANYTHING about hunting the worms to wipe them out? No, I did not. I just think it would be wise to inform people about them is all. I understand at least nature wise being a bit of a scout the whole balance thing and I'm pretty certain there are enough level-headed people who would know better then to do that.

My words are meant for those who would contemplate such action. Perhaps some are here. Perhaps not. Regardless, my opinion is conveyed.

Incarius stirs himself out of his thoughts and the insights given
"Let us be off and make haste about it either way the things afore us shall need more than our wits to solve them" and he takes the other arm of Lan and heads back to the village
