I'd be more than happy to help demonstrate the various fighting ideals with different weapons. I come from a LARP background with more physical rules so I kind of have an idea of where that border that you want to create starts.
I can show you a safe way to do a shield wrap that won't be considered charging as well. (Shield wrapping is fun).
Let me know.

Shield wrapping...
Ok there we go with the crossing the thin line stuff....
Mike, Chris, Todd...whatever you guys decide.

Shield wrapping is not true wrapping. It is side stepping to the side of the person and lighting them up. It's fun, and a pain to defend against.

Ok if I took it wrong I did did just the topic to bring that up just rubbed me the wrong way.

From what I've experienced there is are two ways to get past the defenses of a shield user, that involve wrapping. One is usuable within the confines of FH rules and safety.

let's just get back to the original topic..charging.
let's define the perameters and all so the cheesing will stop and people not occuse Mike of doing that since he is one of the safest fighters in the game.
Everything else can wait.

Fair enough.
I see charging as a player running up to another player and using their momentum to initiate physical contact to either move the person, either through force or them stepping back to avoid the contact. This would be used against a shield wall or other formation in an attempt to break said formation.
Am I correct?

In this game I would say that's partially correct, that used to be the definition and we got people wrapping both arms around people and hitting them in the back, not touching them while doing it. But still making it impossible to attack them without you your self making physical contact. It actually use to be that if you retreat or move it's not charging which I hated, because I am large enough to shoulder block people to their butts and if I did that I'd be the bad guy, I would be called for charging because I made the contact.

So another part of the FH charging is the close combat; a player using invasion of physical space as well, using body positioning to engage in combat.
From what I gather, FH, wants combat to take place at weapon-length distances, allowing for a superior length weapon to have advantages, but without allow for those same weapons to dominate.
A person with a dagger versus a person with a spear is at a disadvantage but is still allowed to try and move inside the spears guard but in doing so exposes themselves to risk. Once in the guard the dagger wold have the advantage as the spear would only be able to disengage (not taking into consideration PRESS or DISARM).
Does that seem about right?

Ok, after a short break to cool down...
Charging is simple.
No physical contact.
No movements that result in physical contact. (accidental or otherwise)
No placing someone in a position to cause physical contact.
This means....
No shield bashing, no belly rubbing, no full speed runs and stopping 3" away, no diving headlong through a shield wall, no stepping between someone and their own shield, no trapping weapons, no wrapping claws/weapons around both sides of someone so they cannot move without touching you.
Its not rocket surgery.

No reason to get worked up. I'm trying to get an idea of where everyone is differing on this (when they do differ). I come from a LARP background that has a lot more physical fighting style. I also pride myself on being a good enough fighter that I can alter my fighting to be safe within the parameters of FH.
I'm trying to get an idea of what "Charging" actually means as well as see ways to teach people how not to do it, without also creating ways that someone could cause a person to break the "Charging" rules (as Temple mentioned).
Your list is the most concise one I've seen.
Do the GM's all concur?

I find that I particularly like what Todd says.
