*back to Kabre*

*Looks at Donnovan*

What direction do ya think ya were in or this Bear's place is? I need a little somethin' to go by for the woods are vast.

*Looks at Ka and Arthos*

Is Giddeon up in the Guild Hall or is he off in the woods? I will meet up with ya as soon as I am able and hopefully with some information.

* Arthos listens to Dovan and than speaks up in a loud voice*

Hold on, we need some answers before we all leave.

First,
Dovan who is this stranger that you brought with you?
How did you escape?
How do we know you are not under the influence of the druid?
How do we know this stranger you brought with you is not under the influence of the druid?

Turns to the sweeper
Same goes with you.

*Turns to the group*
We need some answers before we go out and possible fall into a druid trap.

We can wait a couple minutes to get the answers than move.

I would prefer the questions waited until the threatened families are secure.

I realize you're probably more accustomed travelling alone, but will you tolerate my company?

*Looks at Arthos and stops*

Point...ya have a point.

How about we get the families secured first and then deal with this bear fella?

*Looks at Brikal and grins*

Toleratin' you company? It was just a slight difference of opinion, no major catastrophy or anythin'. At some point trackin' we may want to split up though to cover more ground. If necessary I can hide out there for a bit and keep an eye on an area.

*grins and winks at Azara*... agreed.

If we can get a good starting point and round up Gideon, we can do a 25 or 30 yard proximity search between the three of us. Essentially, systematically comb the area... Standard operating procedure back in the day.

But you know the area better than I do, and in the interests of diplomacy if you have a different technique that applies, I'm open.

The tectic ya suggest works for me.

Hold up for a moment though for we need to discuss this a bit further.

*Donovan smiles*

"I was hoping to wait on this, but if it soothes people's concern, so be it. My escape was rather simple. The man who you see here was Bear's guard. Despite my attempts to convince him to free me, he refused to lend me aid as he feared for his families safety. However, by staying and trying to quiet me, he disobeyed Bear's orders to inform him of my consciousness immediately upon my awakening. Bear arrived to find us talking, and asked me how the guard should be punished. My suggestion of placing him in the cell next to mine spared him from something called "the pit", and his gratitude spurred him to free me after Bear's departure. It seems that he was in possession of a substance that was once used on crops, but seems to also be effective on Bear's plant creatures. I have some of it, but need your alchemist to make more. We had only just left the area of the cell block and crossed through a strange plant room when the cave-in started. We ran and found you in the cavern on our way."

"I am not under the Druid's influence, but unless you have a way to magically verify that, you'll have to take my word on it. If you do have a way, I'll submit to whatever tests you choose to employ. As for the Guard and the sweeper, I don't trust them, and have no idea whose influence they are under. Since you require me to tip my hand, I'll simply say that my assigning them to go with the strongest fighters was not coincidental. Neither was my preference that Dallid accompany them, for that matter."

"I'll be happy to answer any other questions later, but now is not a time for show and tell. I'll take the parchments as well, and we'll have a look at them while the alchemist is doing her examination."

"Azara, the cave-in may have caused some disruption in the forest floor. Sink-holes, divots, and the like. It would appear that most of Bear's operations are underground, and I don't think his whole tunnel system collapsed, but the other tunnels were likely connected to the ones that did. Start with that, if that is sufficient."

"If there are no other questions, let's get moving..."

The guard turns to Dallid and says, "My name is Haybert." He talks quietly but with intensity, as if he were upset. Finally he turns to Donovan after his suspicions were revealed and says in a somewhat angry tone, "You're welcome." And he leaves it at that.
