I probably couldn't agree more at this point, and if we ever made another larp, we would strongly encourage everyone to be human and everyone would have access to everything and anyone who wanted to go all out could and be another race because they find that fun and everyone is happy.

For THIS larp, however, we want, however naive that is, to encourage people to play races and dress up and hope beyond hope that those who do go all out will be this awesome example to those who don't thereby pressuring them to step it up and you know what...it's kind of worked. You guys look great to the point where we as npcs feel guilty and pressured to try and step our game up. Having different races allows a greater immersion and opens up plot possibilities and if we have to dangle a carrot to get that level of immersion, consider it dangled.

well as long as its confirmed that it is in fact an attempt to reward people who dress up, and lure people who dont to dress up. . .im happy :D
then this is not a problem that needs balanceing its working as intended and there is no more need for this discussion, out.

EDIT
I've already stated that race should be not be tied to any mechanical benefit (in fact, I've already suggested a rule to promote roleplaying one's race without it tied to any such benefit). Causing people to lose their benefit due to improper costuming is a horrid idea.

that was posted by Reid, took me like an hour to find
Quoting reed on role playing is like quoting a porn start on the virtues of waiting till your married....

Reid was great at mechanics, and knew when rules were balanced or broken, im not linking that about how to RP your character, im linking it in the discussion of "is having mechanics tied to races good".

he did not think it was a good idea, and neither do I.

Feel better?...i feel fine, and have no issues with him as a person.

Well maybe his taste in vehicle purchases...

Anyhow, he just wasnt a role player. Even admited as much. He played for the stick jockying and using loop holes to make ka a badd ass.

In fact the one time i saw him role play i think he broke out in a rash...
