I knew there would be issues. I was just trying to come up with stuff.

you couldn't GIVE people disarm, you could DISARM EVERYONE. (which is already a spell.)

prolly poorly wored, but the idea was you had to use the skill on the targeted people. Barter wouldn't work, you don't give those people the skills.

spells existt to do every aspect of a hero point already. extra life ? you bet. shorted casting time? sure. and you can use it a whole more than once. Extra damage? you betcha.

the same is true for mass disarms, sleeps, etc. and you don't need a person with the skills to do em.

I think I like arcane the way it is now. People shouldn't complain about the power of arcane because for the most part they put in a lot of work to get those really cool spells. I never had to research for 4 events how to Weapon focus or had to spend 6 magic components and 10 hours to 5 vorpal someone. If you take away my spear I don't lose the ability to use my disipline where as an arcane, craftsman, or alchemist may have lost years of hard work if they lose their book, staff, rock, etc. For all their power and versatility they are also very dependent on an item for all their abilities.

And with the way research will be handled more IG now it should add that little bit of flavor that has been missing. I think it will be cool to see Alchemists expermenting in game with ingrediants and Arcanes seeking out ancient texts that may be hidden in a tomb that will reveal that last piece of the spell they have been working on or Craftsmen looking for masters who can teach them new ways to forge steel to make it stronger than before. Oh the possibilities!!!

if they take away your spear, you do loose the ability

arcane, im still trying to think along the four abilitys idea

-offense
-defense
-support
-multirole

not in that order, the following ideas are not in any order, there just ideas.

defensive - something to the effect of the arcane is immune to all damage to the front of their body for a period of time, allowing them to be a human shield, holding a doorway, etc, this is not that over powered, as they can still be hit in the back, and arcanes dont have that much health.

support - the arcane can transfer there life and power to another person, say an arcane has 6 life and swings 1, they give 5 life and 1 damage to a freind, now they can only swing 0 and have 1 life

multirole - something to the effect of the hero point ability mentioned before, as all the minor abilitys make a very good multirole spell

offensive there are so many damage spells, pick one and keep it, im not going into detail on this one
