"At present we have no communal fund because the villagers are doing well.
Lao simply looks at robin and raises an eyebrow at her comment.

What of Elder Quexell? Perhaps he should be a part of this council. Not including him may be perceived as a slight, and currently the council appears to lack a voice for the majority of villagers.

Robin, though tempted to chime in with Nuk and Donovan's discourse, chooses rather to grin and listen. She can't help but adding, however, "If wit were gold, we'd have a host of Kings about this place," she laughed. She gave her dark elven friend a bow. "And you, my dark Lady, would be Queen. I'll nae argue with ya, cause you'll win." she winked.

When Lao raised his eyebrow she laughed. "Okay, okay, I see your point. However, I visited Elder Quetzal not long ago and he told he that the villagers were well fed and doing well. I make it a point to check in with him every week or so just to make sure. Trust me." She turned to Dillid. "I did indeed offer him a spot on the Council, but he said he did not want it. He said if there was need, he'd send Robert. However, if we don't hear from him, assume all is well, he says. Besides, the Elder of Haven is responcible for knowing the needs of the surrounding folk, thus the position. Donovan has done a fine job seeing to the care of the village folk."

She shrugged. "I know that life is hard around here. That's why I am very much against taxes. I'm not going to sanction taking what little people have. However, we cam make a general announcement that if people are in need they can come to the Council and we'll see what can be done. I just don't feel right about a perminent resource garnering institution for the town yet. Not yet."

If Donavan was appointed Elder by the villagers, than they do have a voice. Good.

But Lao, I think, believes a communal fund had best be constructed while times are good, as they are now. Should strife befall us, it will be too late to construct such a supply.

While we have a village grainery, perhaps a communal store of other materials should be considered? A reserve, if you will.

*While the others are having their debate, Kidwynn walks over and begins writing down the laws of the area.*

(For the sake of timeline, Ug takes off with the laws right after Kiddwyn finishes reading them. Soon after, Robin leaves the Inn after Ug.)

*From behind the bar where he's been sitting listening*

The villagers have indeed been consulted, and they are doing relatively well as they can at least provide enough food at the moment to support their numbers with a very small surplus.

*To the female newcomer*
Which building do you speak of? I have asked for craftsmen's help to refurbish this establishment if that is what you mean. I have already had the damage repaired a few moons ago as you can see.

*Donovan listens to the exchange concerning the laws with great interest until he realizes that there is a newcomer here as well. Seeing her reading the list of laws, he approaches to a polite distance and addresses her.*

"Pardon me, Milady, but I don't believe we've met. I am Donovan Thynedar, Preceptor of the Phoenix Guard and apparently now Elder of Final Haven."

*Bows*

"If the building you're speaking of is the Inn here, the owner is Atrum Draconus. If not, I believe you're looking for Roland Nightshade or the Lady Kathryn, as they own the only other two buildings that could be called 'pretty' in these lands. I haven't seen any of them in a day or so, but I'm sure they're around."

*Pauses for a moment, thinking.*

"You did say repair, didn't you? If you are skilled at crafting and in need of employment, I may have some work for you as well. Are you interested?"

*Upon hearing Atrum's voice* (OOG - Darn typing delay, anyway)

"Actually, there's Atrum now."

*After Atrum's commentary.*

"Too bad. Though, as I said, I am in need of a person with skill at crafting."

*The woman smiles playfully at both Atrum and Donovan*

*She first turns to Atrum*

Well, word had actually arrived to the fishing village that you were in need of a tinkerer...*she beams*...I mean craftsman. Been called all sorts of things love for being able to repair and create items with some skill.

*Turns her attention to Donovan*

The name is Kidwynn. It is a pleasure to meet you, though you appear much to young to be an elder.

*She winks*

If you have some items that need work, I would be happy love to take a look at whatever it is that you have in mind. Well, as long as it has something to do with weapons, armor, and the like...at leat for now.

*Looks at the two gentlemen*

So, this is a tavern of some sort, correct? This is probably going to get me in a bit of trouble, but what does one have to do around here to get a drink?

You hail from the fishing village? I would like to know more of that settlements history, if perchance you have lived there long and can spare the time.

What villagers do the members of this town speak to when the are inquiring about the "condition" of the villagers?

I find it hard to believe that many of those who claim to be speaking with the villagers are actually doing so, or at the very least are only speaking to certain villagers.

Are you aware that the villagers have been murdering each other over food??

Are you aware that a dark and mysterious cult of villagers is busy Extorting food from many villager families on pain of death?

Perhaps I am too foreign to this town to understand what is considered a good and proper condition for the villagers but where I come from these sorts of things are unacceptable. It is the duty of those who "have" to assist those that "have not". Is it not the responsability of the members of this town and its council to aid AND protect the villagers?

Or do these qualities only apply when a villager comes to this fair inn already beaten and near death?

Much of my time is spent in the village proper, and though admittedly the time is not spent in casual conversation, I do pay attention to the talk around me. Yet I have heard none of this.

Please - share what you know so we might address such follies.

*draining his tankard in one long pull the wiry stranger slides uneasily to his feet. After making a rather clumsy bow to the ladies he starts to stumble towards the door.*

Good evening to all, tis time to retire and get a lil' bit o rest before the festivities tomorrow... besides another drink and I think I'll start singing sea shanties to the Magistrate. If that starts I'm sure a jail cell will be in my future.

Time to wander back into the Waste and escort my companions to their new drinks... home... I mean home. With drinks... and beer. *sigh* This is going to be a long night, I can tell...
