Rage

Post by Nelkie »

OK, here is a monster big loop hole with rage. It says you get +1 damage with a weapon. What is considered a wepon

Fists, thrown weapons, rocks, all crafted weapons?

Can a person go into the woods and pull a branch and swing for 1 damage, or does the weapon have to be crafted?

Under the current rules, if you rage and can throw a weapon, you do +1 more damage. Can you say 2 damage people from a distance? Or if you are a grenadr, 3 damage?

No, The weapon needs to be crafted and tagged. There will be a clarification to this added to the rulebook. Also, rage was intended for melee weapons only. The description in the book is just poorly worded on our part. This is already on the short list of clarifications for next season.

Staves are a crafted item because a true combat staff takes more than just picking up a stick to make.

Cool

Thanks for the clarification Wayne. The only weapons in game that can be used that are not crafted is a Gernaders stones, and a monk's fists.

Sounds good to me!

So, you'd need a craftsman to use a heavy log as a club?

Yes you can only do damage with a crafted weapon.

why?

Mainly because of the low damage system. If this was a vid game then I would be happy to allow a person to pick up a non crafted item and they would do fractional damage to full damage based on STR of the character and the item used to hit. Probably a function of the physics of the item modified by STR. Then because it isnt crafted, I would have a quick degregation curve. (everytime you score a hit or block there is an ever increasing chance for the item to break)

At the moment I have not figured out hot to simulate that within a LARP system, but I am open to suggestions.

On a side note baseball bats are crafted.
